The iPad and TV?

In this post, Dave wonders if the iPad will kill cable TV news. In my opinion they are at severe risk if they don't respond in some way.

I rarely watch TV to begin with, but when I do, I take my iPod Touch. It won't be too long before that becomes my iPad - unless my wife steals it.

My kids are more likely to watch tv on their laptops than on our tv.

My conclusion? Cable news out, fiber to the home in.

I do not mind watching TV on my 22" or 24" monitor, not sure about a 9" iPad. However, with that said Global TV is purchasing the digital rights for all of the shows it purchased for the next season; so maybe goodby cable and satelitte TV ... And yes to fibre to the home. The question will be what will be the access cost for Internet services if TV is viewed over this medium?

The iPad is the biggest 'threat' to tv yet. I'm thrilled!
